Quote from Vertu website:

Defining Vertu:

Vertu was founded on a vision: to pioneer and create unparalleled communication solutions. By combining the best in craftsmanship, precision-engineering, proven technology and a unique personal service, Vertu sets the standard for a new category in mobile communication with the world's first Luxury Personal Communication instrument.

Brilliant, utterly brilliant. What they mean:

We took the guts of an average phone, put it in a fancy case, and programmed a speed dial to an office where nice people will charge you the earth for booking cinema tickets.

Having said that, if i was one of the seriously rich, i would have this alongside my p900 in a second!

I wouldn't buy one even if I had the cash!!!

It seem to me like screaming I've a rich, flash harry, and I have considerably more money than yaouuu doo (Harry Enfield style!) It's as pointless as gold-plating your K700. And it will attract muggers. And it will have people saying 'he's got more money than sense'.

I'd put the money towards a decent holiday somewhere faraway and exotic.

Another example of our society being far too focussed on materialism, what you have, rather than who a person is.

Yeah, materialism, good point, but if i had that kind of cash...Is it materialism if you can afford it? Surely its only a vice if you need to steal beg and borrow?

interesting point, meths!

I do think it does almost smack of 'I'm rich, your not, nar nar ne nar nar!' Seems like a pointless waste of money imho, but perhaps I've got how society and stuff works wrong? Which is entirely possible, I make talking crap into an art form

clearly vertu is for a very niche market. Thats what it was designed for and thats more or less what people keep repeating in all our vertu threads

in fact for a phone that not many people like we do seem to have quite a few threads about it

well I have a vertu. Its not about money people.Ok if so why do people get a jag or an aston. You can just go around in a cab right or just and old ford.Well maybach has to me made fora reason and I guess you would like to match your phones/sun glasses etc basically all the accessories with your life style. So thats your answer to vertu. Its not that you have to get one.so people please stop talking about something you dont own.If you do and dont like it its ok go a head and say what you want.

Vertue is a status symbol, a rather poor one at that. The sort of people who own a Vertue strike me as being nouveau riche, plenty of money, but little class. One should never flaunt one's wealth like that. Of course there is nothing wrong with owning nice things, but to be quite honest, a Vertu does not strike me as being 'nice'; rather it comes across as being vulgar, over priced and designed to appeal to those who feel the need to 'put on a display'.

@mustu

I did not mean any offence towards you with my statement above, nor was it directed at you. I do fully accept that some people may very well think that Vertu are good phones with pleasing aesthetic qualities, but I felt I had to make my views clear.

maybe like a jag or an aston martin, if the vertu did something truly mind blowing (i'm not thinking of butlers here), maybe i'd buy it.
but, if it looks good on the outside and crap inside.. i don't see the point in splurging any amount of money on it!

any sales figures for them vertus?

Vertu is like an overpriced ferrari with a lawnmower motor.
