Is there any way to block or to trace a mobile phone if it is lost or stolen? secondly is there any way we can break the security code of the phone?
I have a serious situation out here...my friend's T630 was stolen two days back..he was having security lock enabled on his device, now the guy who stolen his mobile somehow managed to break the security code..is there any way to get it back...making a police complaint does not make any sense...please help

first of all, there is no way to get the phone back. The phone "security lock" is just a matter of software. Overwrite it and the lock is gone. The phone can be traced through IMEI and even locked down by putting the IMEI on a blacklist and then the phone doesn't work anymore on any network. For this last thing though is no law, no rules, so it won't happen.

Can some people bring some fresh comments on this. I also lost the phone with active lock code. I know that by refreshing the software everything is reset.

well he said he doesn't want to involve the police, yet doing so will mean he may get the imei number locked off the netwrok - then the phone can't be used and problem solved (may not get the phone back, but atleast the thief will get no joy either)

The authorities are usually okay with blocking imei numbers because they don't want to encourage theft or handset cloning.

If you mean the lock code on a phone, it's easily overridden. I've just done it with a K700i that had one of these codes on, using my SyncStation and SEMCtool.

Unfortunately For Vineet's Friends The story is different...!

In India If you lose a Handset or Mobile as we would call it..! Its all gone..forget the Police..If you do happen to lodge a complaint the procedure involves you to visit the court and lodge a proper case and all..! Infact its discouraged by the Authorites..after all who would want to catch a bunch of thieves over a Mobile..!

However Vineet bhai, If your friend was on !dea Cellular..you have some good news..!dea can block the IMEI of the stolen phone so it cannot be used on any !dea Network in India...! I dunno about Airtel and Hutch...!

There are so many cracks in the market available like the software along with Terminator dongle and all...These can unlock any lock on the phone by Master-Formating the Phone..Even the Local SE center uses softwares like these just incase you have set an active lock on your phone and have forgotten the Key when You replace with a New SIM card
