I wonder if anyone has tested GPS for their PDA? Is it good? Isn't the PDA too slow? Maybe you have a link to a site that has reviewed it? |

search for "navman" and you will find loads of reviews. The navman for Ipaq 37/38 series is actually pretty good. In Europe it comes with citymaps (streetlevel detail) for all the major cities.
12 channel receiver is a little slow, a cold boot aquiring time up to ten minutes is just to high.
Price also a little high, it retails for about 399€
Navman also has a version for new Palm series (M500, 505, 515, M125 etc) and compact flash edition for e.g. Casio Em200 and HP Jornada 568.
The new Tom-Tom GPS expansions can talk to!! |

What do you mean by this? I didn't understand it.

Are you saying that it takes time to boot up? Shit, ten minutes is to long! |

A GPS receiver needs some time to lock on the satelites to calculate it's position (4 at least for an accurate fix). When it has a fix the receiver saves the numbers of the satelites that it can "see" on that position on earth. This has the advantage that the next time you switch on the receiver it knows for wich satelites it has to look and a fix only takes about 10-30 seconds. However if you are away more then about 200 nautical miles (around 360 km) from you last position and you switch your gps on the receiver needs a lot of time (around ten minutes) to calculate a fix again.
For people who travel a lot, hiking etc etc, this can be really annoying. |

Thank u very much for your answer. I do not hike a lot so it will be no problem for me. I just want to navigate through town and such. |
