HBH-300 too high pitched beep ? |
void* Joined: Dec 09, 2001 Posts: 36 From: Norway PM |
I've just received my HBH-300 headset meant to replace my old HBH-30. Primarily baught it for the better battery life. But one thing that really bothers my is the sound the headset gives to indicate a connect / disconnect. In the HBH-30 it was a soft beep. But in the HBH-300 it is so high pitched that I find it at the edge of discomfort. Have put the ring volume all the way down, but still it's not what I like. Does the designer of these headset never try to actually use them.
My question to others is, are you of the same opinion, or is it only me or my headset there is a problem with ? |

I recently traded my HBH-65 for the HBH-600 and feel the same way about the beep. On the 65 it was very unobstrusive. On the HBH-600 it is louder and shriller, and I find it jarring. I wonder what made them think that this was something they needed to "fix" on the new-generation headsets... |

Interesting. Maybe they have the same 'feature' on the whole new series of HBH headsets. We'll probably have to wait to see if more people experience it the same way. But if so I would like to see a petition to SonyEricsson about this. It may be fixed with upgraded firmware on the headsets (at least the old ones was upgradable). My HBH-300 has R2A. |

I see that you probably have a P9xx phone. I can only tell how it's done on Z600. First make sure your headset is paired with your phone. Also that the headset is turned on and bluetooth enabled on the phone. Then choose the 'Connectivity' desktop icon. If the phone sees the headset you should have an 'Accessories' menu item enabled at the bottom. If you select it you should have a menu item called 'HBH'. Select it and the phone communicates with the headset and gives you model number revision/firmware. For my headset this is: 'HBH-300 CAH1090282 R2A'. |

Thanks for the response, but this doesn't seem to match what I'm seeing on my P900. Can a P900-owner tell me how to do this please?
Thanks again. |

Hi Guys, wish to inform that R2B is out for HBH-300 and it completely resolves the high pitch beep that many are complaining. Please contact your local SE support for an upgrade of the firmware I used to have issues with it and my P910i, and after exchanging 3 sets of HBH-300 all with the same problem (it somehow suddenly disconnects the call and will continue to do so for all calls until I reboot my P910i and the HBH-300), I decided to call up my local SE support for help and I was asked to go down to SE for a firmware upgrade and voila, first thing I realised is the hight pitch sound being replaced with the good old HBH-35 low pitched one. Now I can only hoped it also completely resolved the issue with P910i, and so far so good btw, touch wood...

I have exactly the same experience as you!!
I have the same combination and disconecting of hbh 300 from my 910i drove me crazy from the time I purchased hbh 300...Christ!!
Good news, I will go to my local SE service center to flash fw of my hbh 300, and I hope it will solve the problem. |

Hi vojta66,
yes, it's been a nightmare for me for the past 1 mth plus owning the HBH-300 cos I really don't know when it will suddenly completely disconnect from my P910i. Thus far, after flashing to R2B firmware, it still has not occur as yet, for the past 6 days already, and I already broke my own record cos prior to flashing to R2B, it will happen every 2 - 3 days max for the past 1 mth... Now I really hope it can last until at least 2 more weeks before I can finally confirm that R2B solves this issue with P910i completely...
