Yes, you can do it yourself with the special cable & dongle & the DIV software. Mine was unbranded to start with, but 2 friends have used the same cable & software to unbrand & upgrade their Vodafone T610s. |

Hi,
Does someone have the files to upgrade SE T610? My phone has firmware R1S001 prgCXC125600_US_3 and R1S001 prgCXC125586_TAE_US_3. I tried the cellular-support.com to download the R6 firmware. But the site seems to be down. I know it was up at least about a week and half back when I saw it. I don't know if any other site offers the firmware. I do not want to go to service centre because I already have Terminator Dongle and DIV 5.0. I would need all the consistent files (from the same version for both CPU and modem).
Does someone have those files/ can they post them somehwere/ mail them to me and/or tell me what's wrong with cellular-support.com? Thanks. |

I have a T610 with R1A081 firmware on it (firts one),
unlocked from T-Mobile (still have "T-Zone" and "DOwnload" icon)
so I thinh to update on one of these three firmware:
R4C003, R6C005 or R7A010, Which is the best and why?
If I want to go for R6C005 or R7A010 can I unbrand my phone,
and what is better, to unbrand first and then to upgarde the firmware or opposite?
And which is the latest version of DIV software?
Thank you in advance... |

As you have probably noticed, unlocking does not remove network customisation.
Go for R6C005, as this is the latest official release. R7A010 is a developer firmware, so you should stay away from that. There has been some talk of an official R7A011, but in my opinion, R6C005 is the latest release, and you should go for that.
Installing that firmware will not unbrand the phone, but it's worth doing as it should give you a more stable and faster handset. To unbrand the phone, you need the original T610 GDFS.
The whole process of updating the firmware and unbranding is very easy indeed, and an excellent step-by-step guide can be found here.
If you need the R6C005 firmware files, and the original GDFS file, drop me a PM. |

Sebby,
Thank you very much for you reply
Will go for R6C005, I have GDFS file (and AVR, ARM but thank you anyway)
I was just wondrering for unbranding becouse on first post of this thread its say that R6B004 blocks the phone from illegal upgrades, e.g. removing customisation so I gues that later version also do that

Hello,
Yes R7A011 is released a long time ago for T630. I can rip you a copy if you like, i assume you are using the very poor piece of equipment commonly known as Divlpt? And by the way, it is not illeagal to upgrade your firmware.
Because the platform sends bogus messages while charging, that is why!!!..But why this change of heart?..We sense a charger connected, oops, we will not shut down after all!!!..*********************** UI BASIC, HOLD YOUR HORSES

I can explain about the blocking thing.
Basically, since the introduction of R4C, the firmware includes RSA protection, which stops you doing pretty much anything unofficially. However, this can easily be worked around. DIV LTP 5.0 has an option called "remove RSA". You simply do this first, then you can flash new firmware, etc.
However, you wouldn't need to do this as you're running an old firmware, so it won't prevent you flashing your phone.
I only know because I encountered this problem when trying to flash my old T610, so I had to search for the answer at the time.

You need a terminator dongle. eBay is a good place.
Everything else is explained here.

I have a few questions
I do not have this phone yet.
1) If I brought this phone now would it have the latest firmwarE
I would be buying the phone sim free
2)where is the closest service centre to Tavistock Devon in the UK
this is for updating the firmware.

The latest (and probably final) release is R7A011, but I wouldn't bother if you have R6C005. As far as I know, there are no differences.
