What is the differences between Bluetooth Headset and Bluetooth Hands Free Services?

Some Bluetooth Voice products support both these services?

as far as I know the bluetooth handsfree profile is meant for things like car kits while the headset profile is specifically meant for a unit with a speaker and mic on your head.

Obviously both would support audio output and a mic input, but I believe the handsfree profile has access to more features like the ability to display caller names and signal strenght on a screen other than your phone's

They are both built for Bluetooth headsets.

The Headset profile is the old one,.. Handsfree the newer one.

Handsfree is basically taking over,..also SE phones use them more and more,..K and S700 only uses handsfree.
The advantage is that you can build new features for this profile,..you cannot do that on the Headset profile.

Handsfree supports eg redial last number, caller id and some other functions.

Handsfree is connected all the time, and can on some phones use more power than headset profile.
On some Handsfree profile phones you need to "connect" headsets,..but with eg S700 this is not necessary,..it will connect by itself once a call comes in
Been playing around with S700 for a while now,..works very well with BT.

A lot of headsets support both profiles,.. our headsets (the Bluespoons) does too

I've given it a few times before, hehe,..and I'll gladly do it again, as this Bluetooth profile stuff can be pretty tricky

It has nothing to do with new or old. Headset profile give u basic stuff like answering calls and hanging up, voice dial but that's all. Handsfree give you a little more, caller id, last number dialed, ect.... If you use "headset" profile with car's handsfree kits, it will not give u caller ID or essential info.
