T610/ irda help |

Hi,
I'm a new SE T610 user, and I have a USB irda dongle with a Sigmatel STIR4200. After I've installed the drivers for it, it is able to detect my T610. However, I'm wondering how I can communicate with it? Can I transfer pictures, ringtones, backup my phonebook/etc with this connection? The SE software pack doesn't seem to have any options for this. The only communications tool is Dialup Networking and that's via GPRS.
Thanks! |

Right click a file you want to send and highlight 'send to' and then click '...another computer' (it should have a little picture of a pc/laptop with redbeams coming out) and then it should send it. Or go to my documents and then on in the browser go to 'Desktop' and you should see a new short cut called 'Send files to another computer' with the same picture on the side. Send stuff from there aswell.

Or you can do it with Float's mobile agent. Just activate infra, point it to infra dongle and select connect through infra in fma.

I want to dialup from my laptop using the T610 (not use the GPRS). I do not have bluetooth. I am using the IR port to communicate. The communication is established, When I give the command to dial , the screen on the phone lights up and says Calling xxxxx but immediately the calling sign goes off without actually dialing. I setup the dial-up properties to bringup the Terminal window. I could give the phone modem AT commands and it responds, but If I ask it to dial it Gives a NO CARRIER. I even tried this with my IPAQ 1935 - same results. Can any one suggest how to use the T610 to dialup via IR port. |

it appears that your wireless provider does not allow dialup on your account, or they don't allow dialup at all. That's why you get the "no carrier" message upon dialing. |

Your answer seems most logical.
I do subscribe to their GPRS service but not data service. GPRS gives me basic browsing capabilities but won't allow me to setup mail accounts using pop3 servers etc.
I have an IPAQ 1935, which does not have bluetooth. The IPAQ when connected to the Desktop via cable can connect to the net. Is it possible to do the same with the phones GPRS service and the IPAQ.

using your phone to connect to the internet using GPRS is very similar to using dialup. The difference is the "number" you dial from your IPAQ.
It will be something like *99***1# where the 1 represents the CID of the data account set up on your phone. So here it uses the 1st data account.
Note that some wireless provider may not allow full internet access on GPRS for all their plans. i.e. you may have to pay extra for a "full internet plan" so you can use POP3 and so on. |
