Here in Greece I have two SIM cards.....

1) Telestet which uses band 800
2) Cosmote which uses band 1900

I checked the stand-by time on both phones......

band 800 gave me stand-by time 255hours maximum
and
band 1900 gave me stand-by time 185 maximum

So my opinion is that T68 can guess the stand-by time on different bands...

this is sensible since

1)1900 has better quality than 800
2) Cosmote here in Greece does not have a very stable signal....It goes up and down all the time......

Thats why Vodafone rules worldwide in Greece it has the best signal and i catches everywhere great service too

This is of course dependant on the received signal strength, network paging rate, number of neighbouring cells etc...
