Hi All,

My SD card for my digital camera has become corrupted for some reason.
I was getting a System Error when looking through the pictures on my digital camera. I plugged the card into my PC to retrieve the pictures that were still on there but could not load them.
Now I am unable to access the card at all either from PC or from the camera.
I am unable to format it using the camera or the PC.

What is going on? Can these cards really be corrupted? Is there no use but to throw it away and buy a new one?

Thanks,

MaKS

Did you rotate any pics before you put the card back into the camera?

If im right the reason your card seems corrupt is because maybe the battery died when saving a pic so it corrupted your card, the pics are still there but the 'index' in the card that the pc or camera would read is corrupt so the camera and pc think the whole card is corrupt.

You can use software like Photo Rescue or Smart Recovery which forgets about the index and looks directly into the card and recovers the pictures, you may also find some pictures that you thought you had deleted before because usually the pics stay there but they are deleted from the index until they are overwritten.

Do a google search for 'Recover pictures from sd card' or something like that to find more programs.

I've got an SD/MMC card with a similar problem, except that it seems to reformat itself! My girfriend was using it and has some of our holiday photos on it, and it seems to have lost the photos that were on it! The camera is saying the memory's empty, and same happens when it's plugged into the card reader on the pc, the directory is there, but no pictures!

Any help anyone?

Think it's the card that's screwed - it did this in my digital camera, and was in hers when it did it again!
