Yeah, it's been arounf for a bit (not that long though) and I finally had time to update, well here's my thughts:
VERY IMPRESSIVE, for once MS OS software is actually beginning to impress me, Win XP was real great but that was mostly just for looks and animation...well, MS added (good) security scanners to Windows XP!!!
I mean, they actually made their Virus scan stuff (now built into XP) work with my old one (Trend Micro Internet Security) and it alerted me of what was functioning on security...alongside that, they added a program scanner (or something)!
What this does is find vulnerabilities, let's say I open KaZaa for the first time, it detects that is has abilities to connect over networks; well, Windows now pops up with a little bax saying it has been blocked by the fireway giving me 3 options, enable, disable and always ask!
Isn't this great, Microsoft has said they will be releasing virus protection, but if it's quality like this and still free...sign me up!!!
*Anyone know it it will actually scan for viruses if you don't already ahve a scanner? I'm just amazed with this quality add-on for XP already, but that would be real sweet if they had a free virus scanner!
I am aware SP2 fixes many problems, but this is a big (user-end) feature that I feel deserves to be brought to peoples' attention!

Actually, Microsoft aren't providing free virus detection. If you don't already have a third party virus protection program installed, all SP2 does is tell you that you need one!
There's already a thread discussing SP2 here:
Microsoft Windows xp SP2 (Review)
which also mentions things that SP2 actually breaks, rather than fixes! |
