The possibility to be sponsors for the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008, Huawei Technologies and ZTE are considering, which are the two biggest companies of manufacturing telecommunications equipment in China. The two companies, according to Financial Times are already in discussions with the Organisational Committee of the Olympic Games of 2008 and they consider that the Olympic sponsoring can help them to increase considerably their international recognition. This was also the reason that Lenovo undertook already the sponsoring of the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008 which is the biggest constructor of PC and software technology in China.
Financial Times also reports that ZTE has sent a special team in Athens in order to find out how other companies are taken advantage of the Olympic sponsoring, while they point out also the fact that the Chinese company supplied ADSL equipment to the GREEK TELECOME(OTE) for the demands of the Olympic Games of Athens 2004.
