Hi,

wondering whether the built-in languages on my T39m can be changed. I bought it recently, and realized that it came with English and Chinese for interface language and T9 input. Needing a firmware upgrade anyway (running R2K) since it was freezing on occasion, I sent it in to the MN service center to have it flashed to R4A008.

I asked them whether they could put a different combination of languages on there, say English/French/Spanish, instead of English/Chinese (Chinese is not particularly useful to me at this point), and they said it could not be done.

Has anyone done this before? If it can't be done, why?

Thanks for any info you may have.

if it can be done depends on which model it is... the asian T39m phones can't have any other language versions than the Asian version, the Middle East and a few more. This has to do with the IMEI number which is used when upgrading the phone to identify the language version. So you can only choose between certain versions depending on the IMEI number (or to be more exact the TAC number which is the first six digits in the IMEI number).

maybe, maybe not... depends on whether the TAC number of your T68 makes the Arabic versions available when upgrading...

So from what I understand there are several hardware versions of the T39m, each with specific language support in ROM?
