Why not, take some good and cheap parts and just get a hacker to mod the SE software and we could make our own phones!
It's kinda impractical, but it would be cool. Add a VGA Cam along with A huge screen and such, that would be cool.

With a phone like that it would be like Linux. Many ppl could make changes to the phone fw and it would be stable instead of buggy as a regular manufactured one.

Motorola has linux phones on the market but they are expensive. And I still dont know why the phone makers include cameras in the phones? Give us a phone without the damn camera (aye, my work doesn't allow a camera phone being used while i'm working). |

but its a good thing that no one's come up with an idea of a mobile phone with windows... lol

Sorry for going off thread...
Do you think Linux is here to stay? If so which flavour?
I ask as I'm a Unix man through and through I worry re Linux long term future as I'm sure alot of it's popularity is due to it's cost - free - How long can something be free for?

Linux isn't 100% free, the mainstream final OSs cost about $100, so Linux is doign pretty well I'm guessing...especially since many servers are heading linux! (Sadly many are heading MS too... )
I just don't know...isn't PHP linux based?
I think PHP is better than ASP (haven't seen ASP.NET though) so if PHP remains (which it will for some time) Linux will stay in business!
I've never used a linux (powered) PC though, wuts it like...from what I understand it's a more advanced (complex) OS that has similarities of the Mac OS and Windows.

It is free, 100%. Some of the pay-for distros has added enhancements on top of the core. That is what you're paying for. It's optional, and there are PLENTY of choices on distros, depending on your need/want.

Pretty well, I agree.

Nope. You can also put it on webservers running *nix flavors, OSX, and Windows. What is PHP?

PHP has nothing to do with Linux. PHP can go bust (not likely at the moment) but it won't substantially affect Linux.

All OSes are internally complex. . Would you be referring to the interface?
