NTT DoCoMo for some time was in negotiations with Motorola aiming at the manufacture of third generation FOMA mobile telephones. Just few hours ago the two companies led finally to an agreement and Motorola will manufacture the first FOMA mobile, that might be also used not only in Japan but internationally, since it will be compatible with the networks GSM/GPRS. However, the international analysts have expressed few days ago their concerns for this collaboration, saying that the manufacture of a FOMA mobile from Motorola will bring a clash with DoCoMo plans for international extension. Motorola will accomplish to enter the "closed" Japanese market, increasing considerably her sales. DoCoMo collaborates "traditionally" with Japanese constructors, as NEC, Fujitsu and Matsushita Electric Industrial. However, recently certain mobiles of second generation of Nokia were added in the range of her products .
The FOMA mobile of Motorola is expected to be launched in the Japanese market on spring 2005. According to the bulletin of the two companies the appliance of the American company will allow the access in Wireless LANs, while for access in the Internet will use mopera browser, that will have the possibility of regular appearance of web pages. The new mobile will be able to read in the screen most documents of applications of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), while for the wireless connection with other appliances, users can use the Bluetooth technology. According to the first indications the appliance belongs in the family of smartphones, after it allocates enough applications for the management of personal information. Mr. Kei-ichi Enoki, Executive Vice President of NTT DoCoMo declared that the new mobile will be addressed in business users, offering many more advantages than that usual mobile. "We are proud that will collaborate with the NTT DoCoMo and will share our know-how in the space of appliances of third generation", Patrick S. Kung declared, Corporate Vice President of Motorola and continued "The first FOMA mobile of Motorola will allow in business users to fulfil a lot of work simultaneously and to become still more efficient, particularly when they are found... far away from Japan, since they can use the appliance and all their operations connected with their homeland...».
