Saw it twice and loved it both times.

there are several little things that could have been done a little better, but I'll let them slide since its Zach Braff's first film. Plus he put Natalie Portman in it and she is just awesome.

I've seen it only once, but plan on a second viewing. What things do you think could have been better?

Also, I'm convinced he wrote the entire film as a scam just to get to make out with Natalie Portman. He beat me to the punch.

It's basicly about a guy who finds out his mother has died and has to fly back from LA to his home in New Jersey for her funeral. When he get's home he sees a lot of his old friends, meets a girl... humor and drama ensues.

Sounds like an average rom-com to me, what makes it stand out?

It's really tough to describe without setting up specific scenes and lines. The writing is spot on, the acting is great. All around good film IMO. Romantic comedeys on the whole are one of the worst film generes right now I feel. I would hesitate to even call this film a romantic comedy for this reason, because it compares it to movies like Made in Manhattin, and other crap like that.

For example, did you see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? That would technicly be a romantic comedy, but it is nothing like a standard RM.

hard to describe what could have been corrected without ruining the movie for others. Suffice to say a few scenes would have been better with one or two lines cut out. A soggy beaver was all wrong because beavers are at home in the water and the scene where he touches his dad's chest just came off as too scripted and acted.

The rest of the movie had just the right amount of wit, romance and interesting situations. Great on-screen chemistry between Zach Braff and Natalie Portman.
