In the past years, consequences of the greenhouse phenomenon has become more perceptible, we see many times extreme meteorological phenomena affecting rural regions. Farmers protest for delays of the goverment regarding for the relative compensations to stand once again in their legs and to continue their difficult work. The Organism of Greek Agricultural Insurances (EL.G.A.) estimated that it should provide more immediately its services, and in order to do that, arranged the supply of 220 Pocket PC's Loox 610 from Fujitsu Siemens through Active Computer Systems. In this way the agronomists estimators, can make their report with the damage of each rural cultivation, and then via GPRS to send their report to the computer centre of the organism. In this way, the work of estimators will become easier since they can advise in smaller time interval and naturally, send immediately in the Organism all data needed in order to proceed with the arrangement of the compensations.
An important element that contributed to the supply of the particular equipment,was the software of EL.G.A., that is based on the platform Visual Basic and functions very well and collaborates without difficulty with the Pocket PC. Taking into consideration this advantage and in combination with the small size of the appliance, the big autonomy, the powerful processor Intel PXA 255 and the high clear display of the touchscreen, Loox 610 sure will become a reliable collaborator for the agronomists estimators of the organism.
Sure it is a big step for Greece, where the "traditional" bureaucracy is well "rooted" in the space of the Greek state. Remarkable it is also that apart from the use of engaged circuit GPRS, the organism intends in the future the supply of GPS's that will be adapted in the port of Loox 610 in order to be used for recording and delimitation of the parcels.
