T68i and Usb Cable Connection |

I have a cable which I bought with a synchronization package that allows me to control my phone book, sms and so on from the PC. The package was designed for the T68 and my phone is a T68i. Could this be an issue? When I connect the phone via the cable, the synchronization software that came with the cable recognizes the phone and it works fine. Other software, however, such as Outlook and all Ericsson Software, including the Phone Settings and the Phone Book and Text Message Manager and XTNDConnect do not detect the phone and tell me to check my connection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I did the same, I bought the cable from Carphone Warehouse.
If it's the same cable it came with USB-Serial drivers. Before you read on I'm using XP. This fools XP into thinking it's a serial cable, so if you go into device manager, under Ports, you should see a MAT USB-to-Serial Bridge (COM?). The COM port is important.
Now install the R3APackage5.exe package. In control panel double click phone monitor options, then click on the COM Ports, disable all the other ports and ensure your COM? port is the only enabled port. You can also switch on Reserved if you like.
Now install R3APackage1.exe or phonebackup.zip and they should work fine.
As I say again this is under XP and I've had a lot of luck recently.
Hope this helps. |

Phil - you describe the exact same situation which I have. I am also using XP and it's also the MAT USB-Serial cable. Your solution sounds like a pretty logical one - I still have to try it but I couldn't believe someone actually had the same problem I did so I thought I'd reply first. I'll give it a shot and tell you how it goes.

Bit hard for me to take the package back and exchange it for another one as I bought it while in Switzerland last week and am now back in Egypt where I live - such accessories are not exactly that easy to come by again. I travel again and am planning to get a drs-10 the next time I go anywhere. In the meantime, I'd like to try to get this one working any way I can.
I tried Phil's tips but the cable still won't work with Outlook or with the Ericsson Communication Suite - I'm at a loss... |

OK guys, I have some USB cable which is T68 compatible. All of the SE software works properly, however I too had problems to get it started. The main thing is that when you install the SE phone manager, you have to wait until wizard comes up which setups your phone to all other SE and generic programs. Currenly I can synchronise all the contacts, and I can send pictures through My pictures software. However, when I run send file software, even thow the software recognises the phone, it never connects.
Can somebody help...?

SendFile does not with me either. Phone not recognized. I'm using DRS-10 cable. |

i have bought the se usb cable dcu-10.
it works fine with xp but it has a little issue with the usb specs:
if you connect the phone to the cable, xp normally ens up in a bsod.
well, se is proud to no supporting xp, even after 1 year.
the solution there is that one has to connect the phone when the pc is shut down. cool each time before a sync shutdwon the pc.
anyway, i now use the tdk bluetooth usb adapter and that works fine.
see under the technical forum, i described my way to the first sync.

You can download it at:
"wap.sonyericsson.com"
Go to the bottom of the screen to "Ericsson Software", select "t68" then chose "My Pictures".
