I have two USB Bluetooth Adapters. You'll find that pretty much all work with the Mac with no drivers or software required - just plug in and go.

The ones I have are the Sitecom CN-500 and the D-Link DBT-120.

The D-Link is officially supported by Apple with firmware updates. However, I've since found that the Apple supplied firmware updates also work with the Sitecom (and possibly others) as internally they're almost identical and use the same chips.

Also, make sure you're running Mac OS X 10.3.5 as that makes iSyncing with the K700 alot easier.

Thats it. I can't guarantee that EVERY USB Bluetooth adapter will work with the Mac, but so far I haven't heard of one that won't.

All the software you need for syncing your contacts and calendars, and transferring files is built-in to your Mac.

Yes, you use Bluetooth File Exchange to transfer files to and from the phone. iSync is for synchronising the Mac OS X Address Books contacts & phone numbers and iCal Calendars with the phone. It's very useful.

iSync is part of the standard Operating System installation, but you don't need to use it if you don't want. However, I'd recommend using it - its alot easier entering names & addresses on the Mac than on the phone.

There are many, many changes between Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.3.5, too many to list here, so look through these docs:

10.3.1 changes here
10.3.2 changes here
10.3.3 changes here
10.3.4 changes here
10.3.5 changes here
