Renaming Game Files? |

I've got some Java games for my K700i but some of the files have stupid names like 0002.jar
Is it possible to rename the files before I put them on the phone to something more meaningful like pacman.jar or whatever the game is?, if so are there any rules like no caps or underscore instead of spaces?
TIA

First of all: Welcome to Esato!
I don't think that the names of the files are important, but I might be wrong. Why don't you just try to rename one of your inconveniently named games, and see what happens?
Good luck!

You should be able to rename them.

On my K700i I find that I can ONLY rename the files when on my pc.
For games, it willnot allow you to change when on the phone.
I dont think there are any rules, sol long as it remains a .jar file.
good luck...

Java capable phones when receiving a java application they read the name of the application from the "MIDLET-NAME:" line in META-INF\manifest.mf. If you want to rename the game for the phone just change what is written in that file after opening it with notepad (you must have it extracted first from the jar file then insert it again after changes)
If you want to rename it for the pc just rename the file name, but it doesn't have anything to do with the name on the phone.

I wouldn't recommend changing the extension although in some cases it's ok to do so like you can with games that come down as a .zip I'd find out more about it if I were you.
As for sites I don't use wap I get my files from the internet and put them on my phone via bluetooth, if you can do the same I can give you some links.

jad files are files that contain information about a certain java application ( yep that's the jar file). Phones that use both jad and jar files require a pc suite kind of program for the pc in order to be sent the game.
