I was just reading a early post about carrying a spare battery, for trips away.Wouldn't it be good if future phones had a small solar cell for trickle type charging? It would eliminate the need of a spare battery.I wonder if this may take place in years to come.

Yeah, since power is precious and modern phones with much features take much power. I think it will have to be implemented. So we dont need to charge much. :-)

I have heard/read about such rechargable batteries using solar cell technology a couple of years ago, but I haven't heard/read anything about it since then.
It's a very good idea, at least in theory, but I think that the major problem is the very low charging current obtained by the solar cell technology, at least when the solar cell panels has to be as small as a backside cover of a mobile phone.
However, time will tell.

It would be a great idea.Especially now that they state, li ion battery s have no memory(i'm a little sceptical though).
