You do have a point but this is really to give those people who are paranoid about hygien, a peace of mind that there handsets are clean and germ free!

true. but i suppose its like a computer and spyware. it accumulates some spyware programs and then you give it a clean out (run anti-spyware programs) every once in a while. probably not a very good metaphor, but u get the idea

I'm the only one that uses my phone, so anything it has it got from me. Maybe I should hop in that contraption. Seems more logical than putting the phone in there. |

What a daft idea!!
I've had loads of secondhand (and possibly third hand!) phones with a totally unknown history off Ebay recently as fix-up projects, and a lot of them have been filthy. I've taken them apart, given them a good clean, and sometimes then gone and eaten lunch. Without washing my hands after cleaning up this phone! I'm still alive and kicking, with no adverse effects (so far, touchwood!).
We need a certain level of bugs in our daily lives anyway, to help build up a 'resistance' to everyday bugs and things. If we lived in a perfectly clean, sterilised environmnet then every time we encountered something even slightly dirty we'd be laid out for days!
Our kitchen is quite dirty, and isn't cleaned as often as it should be. I've suffered no ill effects - in fact living in a not totally clean environment I think has left me with quite a strong constitution.
