I'm trying to find software (for Windows ME) that I can use with my Sony Ericsson T-310 and Z-600 phones, for backing up SMS messages, phone lists etc. but also for transferring pictures, ringtones, creating my own ringtones and so on.
I bought an ST Lab infra-red dongle which connects to the USB port for communications. Works fine with my T-310 phone. I haven't tried anything with the Z-600 yet.

I've downloaded some software from the unofficial Sony Ericsson software site (http://www.clubsonyericsson.com/en/software_windows.shtml) and had success with "Theme creator" (allows you to change the colours etc. of menues and so on) and "MMS studio" (create MMS templates on your PC) and "Sony Ericsson image editor" (edit and transfer pictures to the phone).

But I'm still trying to find software that allows me to save SMS messages, the phone book and so on, on the PC.
I've tried "FMA" ("Float Mobile Agent" which is also linked from the above site) but to no avail. I haven't been able to find any instructions for it except a very brief and basic "get started" page which someone directed me to, but really didn't clear up anything. I'm very confused -does this work with a T-310, and does it support infra-red communications?

Then there's "Phone backup" (also available from the mentioned website) which I understand should do what it says. The problem is that there is absolutely no documentation with the program on how to use it, and it's not obvious what to do.
Has anyone figured out this one?

Any other software which will allow me to backup SMS messages and other stuff from the phone?

First, connect your phone( I use my T610 in this example, but you connect your T310):

Second, check for what you want to back up:

Press backup, and you'll be asked for the destination folder:

than, just let it back your files up, when it's done, find the directory where you saved it, and enjoy

hope this helped

Thanks!
I understand you're referring to "Phone backup". Tried it like you said, and it seems to work.
But.... it doesn't seem to have the ability for the user to *view* the actual data, but just save it as a file.

I would like to have something perhaps a little more user-friendly and flexible -anything like that around where you can actually read the SMS messages, phone book etc. after they've all been transferred to the PC?

Floats Mobile Agent is really good for such things you want to do :> It's not hard to use, what is the problem? How to connect to the phone? I have a bluetooth dongle and it works very nice.

I use floAt's Mobile Agent (fMA) with a SE T610 and a SE DCU-11 USB-cable, and it works just fine. No problems whatsoever.
