Hi all,

Im looking to buy a k700i from vodafone but this has all of the branded icons which i dont want. What is the best way of clearing the phone and then getting the default k700i firmware installed and how much would i be looking to pay for this?

Thank you for your help.

Welcome to Esato

Take my advice mate & that of many other people on here......
DO NOT buy a Vodacrap one!
I don't think it's possible to reflash them to unbranded yet so u'd be stuck with the messed up menu, 3 buttons & 2 icons which go to 'Live' & the missing MP3 feature which Voda have kindly removed for you!

Go for O2 as they are virtually unbranded, just startup/shutdown animations. They're also unlocked.

Try a search on here & u'll find all the problems.

DO NOT GET A VODAPHONE K700!

I did and sent it back within 3 days due to MP3 problem and all the branding. I got one from O2, with NO branding (not even startup/shut down) and it is unlocked.

thanks for your quick replys.

The only reason i was leaning towards vodagroan was because of their anytime 100 price plan at Ģ15.

Most others i have come across are around the Ģ30 per month mark which is not what i really want to be spending.

Do O2 offer a similar price plan?

*ill take a look on thier site*

Mate, if u got to say an O2 shop & tell them u are considering the Voda tariff but would prefer O2 but only if they can do the same tariff, they'll match it for you.
Even if they don't at first persistance is they key, they will

I just rang them up and they said their best offer is Ģ20 a month + 4.99 insurance (300mins + 500txts) Which seems a pretty good offer.

Thanks

If you want the vodafone network but not a crap branded phone you could try going to a high street store that deals with all networks such as phones4u or carphone warehouse and telling them that you want a contract with them but only if you give them a branded phone. If you tell them why (crap menu but most of all the emition of mp3 ringtones) most will give you an unbranded phone on voda. I got mine from phones4u.

Help,

I think I messed up. I have a Dutch Vodafone K700i with all the above mentioned problems and crap. Canīt dump it so need help. Allas the SE update service is not online so canīt try a firmware update.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get rid of this limiting and annoying branding. I travel quite a lot so maybe someone can help me in say Hong Kong??

Thanx

I made the mistake and took a vodafone K700i and I have contact them (191) three times, send e-mail, went to to local vodafone store, just too unlock my phone, because I want to use it with my greek sim card also, I would also love to have the mp3 ringtone back again. I am really pissed off at Vodaphone right now but I can't do anything or I can? I dont know mates I am confused, but anyway what happened, happened I can really do anything about it, I am just waiting for the unlock code to be sent to my e-mail address four days now but with no luck at all. They said that they are waiting for the code for this SE model. What the f@ck! I dont get it! If they havent send it to me untill the first bill comes and if they charge my 20 pounds just for nothing I will give it back! Sorry guys but i am a little bit angry right now, I hope you can understand why! Thanks a lot! Bye and have a nice time! dim, from cambridge!

Ive sent my phone away to get the firmware updated to the Hays Technology Repair center. Hopefully it should come back with the R2V. Which allows the use of MP3's as ringtones.

This is what I sent to Vodafone 2 days ago:

I purchased the Ericsson K700i outright on the weekend, and the phone is branded as a vodafone live telephone. The salesperson at the store informed me that as I was with Optus, the phone should work normally. However, I have noticed with all the pre loaded Vodafone Live software on the phone that a few features are disabled (eg MP3's as ring tones). I Have spoken to Sony Ericcson about removing the files as I purchased the phone outright and they informed me that I have to contact you. Once contacting you I was told to call Sony Ericcson supoort centres, who informed me that they are not allowed to remove the Vodafone Live software on the phone. Now purchasing the phone outright I expected that the phone would have all the features of the regular phone, and as it didn't sohuldn't
have a problem removing and placing the original SE software on the phone. I really want to resolve this issue as I am getting fed up of being palmed off from one service centre to the next, and would like to know how I can get rid of the Vodafone Live software on my mobile.

And this was their reply:
We advise that it is not possible to have the Vodafone Live! branding removed from the handset. However we advise that if you are able to locate a service centre who will perform this action for you, we understand that it will void the warranty provided by the manufacturer, Sony Ericsson.

They are so smart that they cant even read a question properly. I am taking the phone back to the store either for a refund or to get an unbranded phone
