Has anybody ever tried the HCQ-30?
I've ordered two of them and was wondering if they are any good.

I haven't used that one but I have used the Nokia equivalent and the only problem really is that you need to find somewhere to put the phone otherwise it just flops around on the passenger seat or somewhere else

with the nokia one it used the microphone on the phone to pick up your voice but you could get an extra external directional microphone that plugged into the kit which made the sound much better

I guess this isn't exactly telling you about the model but it might be food for thought

Thanks, yes.
...but it looks to me like the microphone is integrated in the phone connection?

possibly, but where is that bit going to be unless you also have a air vent cradle to hang the phone? thats the problem with these types in that they don't provide a cradle so where do you put the phone? and since that piece is attached to the phone where will that speaker be?

in the end it annoyed me enough that I got rid of that and got one of those plug'n'go types that plugs into the cigarette lighter but is also a cradle for the phone

Hmmm...
Guess I'll be all right then:

It's not air vent mounted but I'll give it a go.

Might just write a wee review as well.

What a great surprise!!!
There is more to this than what the pics on the site reveals!
A stick on microphone!

As seen on the pics you have two options of use:
Eigther the built in mic in the telephone socket or the stick on mic.
I've fitted one set in the Audi and will fit this one in my wife's Mazda later today. (I'll post some pics from both cars tomorrow.)
One problem that came up in the Audi was "feedback" between the mic and the loudspeaker. That was due to the fact that the lighter socket and the built in mic ended up too close to each other but after mounting the stick on mic it works like the clappers!
(It took me 10 minutes to pull the cord behind the dashboard)

I'll make a review of it at a later stage.

great! so thats pretty much the same as the nokia kit I was mentioning (except the external mic was an optional extra albeit a cheap one)

One question about all this, and possibly a little off topic but I guess you have this kit now so I might get away with it...

When are car manufacturers going to start putting more power points around the car and/or providing a second battery to power them so as not to drain the primary battery.

If we could, in our car on long trips we would have a Garmin GPS, a plug'n'play phone car kit, an electric cooler for drinks and food and either 2 gameboys or a small dvd player with an inbuilt screen all of which require power

I do have an adaptor that provides 4 cigarette lighter sockets from the original one but once in a while it blows the fuse and we lose radio too which shares the same fuse.

Most car manufacturers do suply extra sockets around the car on request.
In the Audi there is three delivered as standard; One in the ash tray in the dashboard, one by the ash tray in front of the back seat and one in the boot. As optonal extra I could have had, at least, one more in the boot but didn't see the need for it.
Adding an extra socket, with a seperate fuse, is not much of a job really.
Pop in to a car electro shop and ask for advice.
I am sure (even) you would be able to do it mate

I have the HCQ-30 attached to the car holder specific to SE T610/630/637. However, I cannot make it do voice dialing with the HCQ-30. It's like the built-in mike is not picking up at all. It's normal though during phone conversations. A bug perhaps?

I miss one thing with this HCQ-30. It should have a possibility to charge your phone battery at the same time (when you keep your phone in a cradle). Now you have to remove the HCQ-30's cord before you can plug in a charger's cord. That's one cable too much.
