Alright Im very new with this whole phone to pc connection stuff. I bought a usb cable for my phone and a cd rom off ebay this last week and got it today, I installed the driver. Its the prolific usb-to- serial bride (com3), thats what it says under the protcol sections in hardware. When I try to connect with fma or the sony ericsson one it cant connect for some reason. does anybody know why? I know this is not alot of info but thats all I could think off. I want to be able to take the picture from my phone and put them on my computer, and also upload games to my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

take a look here, @ESTOR wrote this, maybe it can help:

It is the right cable and it should work (if it is not broken).

Make sure that the driver (PL2303) is installed correctly, that "Prolific USB-Serial Adapter" is visible under Device Manager. You can re-assign a different COM port to it, so may be it is in conflict with something else.

For XTND and SE software, you have to install Mobile Phone Monitor (which should be part of the install package), and "enable" the COM port which corresponds to the cable. Control Panel -> Phone Monitor Options

For Float's Mobile Agent, you shouldn't have to do anything.

For T2xx/T3xx phones, the cable must be set at 9600 speed to connect. Not sure about T6xx series. You can do that under Device Manager -> Ports -> COMx . If you are using FMA (which does not require Mobile Phone Monitor but will not have conflict with it), you can set the baud rate inside the program.

if it helps, thank ESTOR

Sorry to tell ya... but you cannot transfer items (pictures etc.) FROM the phone using a cable, only TO the phone.

You would be better off selling your cable and spending a bit more on a Bluetooth Dongle. So much easier to use and with all the features you could want

what exactly does the blue tooth thingy do? i just plugs into the usb port and It can communicate with any bluetooth enabled prooducts such as my phone? or do u have to buy one specifically for certain device like for the phone youd have to buy one and for another product with bluetooth enabled youd have to buy another...etc?

you only have to buy one USB dongle. you can use many different bluetooth capable products with it, but only one can transfer information at a time. so you could be printing something VIA bluetooth, and ur phone will still work with bluetooth, but it will have to wait till the information is completed sending before the next will start working. get it? sorry if that made no sence... lol
Its good to be back!

Make sure the speed is set at 9600 (under one of the drop down menus inside FMA, or under device manager for your COM port, which is COM3 in your case)

A cable can be used to retrieve pictures and stuff FROM T61X/T63X/Z600 series, using FMA.
