to moderators...
is gprs connectivity in anyway connected to signal strength? means as the number of bars increase does, the speed of gprs increase???... i think no... but is there a reason i might be wrong?? if signal is broken, gprs fails.... can gprs be in the service of more than one tower and can handing over be possible in gprs? |

Personally i dont think so. If i have 1 or 2 bars sometimes on my fone, the gprs speed is the same as at full bars. If i lost the connection for some seconds, i still could continue the browsing without disconnecting.

No, it shouldn't make any diffrence. Signal strength always seems to effect sound quality over a phone call but it doesnt result in errors in GPRS...it might use more batt. power when using it with lower signal though or something |

Indeed, the battery could be drained more, but as long the connection is fast it doesnt disturb me.

The network can use coding scheme 1 to 4 for gprs data packets. As the signal strength decrease the network can choose to go to cs1 and thus get extra protection bits for user data (cs2 is most widely used), and hence a lower throughput.

GPRS network can be different. Some networks supports coding schemes 1 to 4. Some networks have cs1 and cs2 only. EDGE network supports new modulation and codings.

T630 is faster than R520, but can not be noticable for wap browsing, because the downlink data is very limit. The data rate improvement will not help much on wap but will be noticable on internet browsing.

Thx. So the principal is the same in both fones, but the different time slots gives the faster result?

Does anybody know if you manually increase the classes in the gprs edit menu it'll help?

I don't believe there is a connection with the signal strength and GPRS speed. As long there is a signal/connection the packages can be sent. It should more depend on your phone and the receiver, not the medium in between.
