@slikr - Good thing you've come up with this kind of 'Q' in this thread . Many Filipino members here will just be delighted to see a definite answer as to where they can upgrade the said software Though I have seen some posts saying that the new upgrade is still almost the same as the old one - full of bugs, or maybe lessen it a bit I will also be awaiting some postive replies here mate

@m9rcy_19 - Many thanks for the info! I guess the Semicon Company upgrades the SE K700i fone model in almost 'all' of their branches, nationwide . . . I'll try visiting one of their branches in SM Dept. Store here in the south.

Isn't there supposed to be an online firmware update available using the DSS-20?

I suggest that you call the service center first. Some of them don't have the latest firmware for the K700i.

As far as I know, the SESS in Herrera, Makati has the R2L.

SESS in makati is the best place for upgrade... no lines, fast service (30-45mins max)

please take note of their new address. they are closed today (08/13) and tommorrow (08/14) and will open at their new address on monday (08/16):

Sony Ericsson Center
Digital Exchange
Glorietta 3, Ayala Center
Makati City

i think this is the one in the former Streetlife (in front of Gold's Gym and Friday's).

i had my firmware updated to R2L and i was asked to wait for 45 minutes but it took only around 15 to 20 minutes (and the phonebook memory wasn't erased at all).

with r2l:

* one of the theme files (sony ericsson) is corrupted.
* you can now delete a contact from a group without deleting the whole group
* recurrent snooze is now available.
* still prompts for the phone lock code at power on even if phone lock protection is set to automatic.
* they say screen is brighter
* battery life seems longer (i am not sure though if this is due to the firmware upgrade or because i've been charging my phone in off mode for 12 hours. i know it may sound stupid but some people here claims that they're battery life gets better after charging it for 12 hours so what the heck. its no harm trying. )

anyone here knows how to change the home icon into the mobile icon for a particular contact? coz whenever i copy my sim numbers in the the phone memory, the default icon was the home. unlike in nokia where you could set it to whichever you want. so what i do is manually copy the number and set it to mobile then delete the number with the home icon.

I am planning to upgrade to R2L as well, after two weeks since the last post, are there really marked improvements?

Mine has R2E. Need your two cents worth as well.
