It would be interesting to know what type of form factor you guys prefer. Clamshell or block? Personally i prefer the block design. But that maybe because i haven't used a clamshell very often. Your opinions?

I miss my clamshell (my first cell phone!), but I've gotten accustomed to the candybar (block) style of my T616. Love it, but would in back in a heartbeat (only the z600, though).

I feel clamshells are sort of "delicate" phones. It may just be a stereotype. But i feel if these phones fall off your hands, they're gonna end up in the dust-bin. Are clamshells really that delicate or is it just my feeling?

Perhaps because I've always had them (apart from a brief time with a V200), I prefer block or 'candybar' phones - they fill your hand nicely, especially the metallic-type cased phones like the T610!

If the clamshell is well made, it will survive alot.

I prefer the candy bar style everytime.
However, the advantage of having a flip or clamshell phone is the screen can be much bigger because the keypad is on the other half of the phone. The screen can take up half the phone and still remain small when the phone is closed.

Yeah the screen can be bigger in a clamshell. But have you people seen what nokia did to their first clam phone the 7200? The screen is so tiny!

It depends on the look, i used to have a sony Z7 flipfone and it was really smart, if it hadnt broken i would still have it! I havent seen very many nice flipphones lately, i dont like the samsung/motorola style, tho having said that i just got an LG8110, but purely because it was a fantastic contract offer. On the whole i would have to say *block* phones are better looking, less fiddly to use.

Blocks are kewl but they tend to get alot of bruising! The whole advantage of a clamshell is that its screen is protected altho like my v600 that wasnt by those motorola goons :-l
