ASANP or Automatic Switching of Network Access Points is the latest technology for mobile phones. It allows a mobile device to switch automatically between a GSM mobile network and a WLAN without the user noticing it. This new tech increases the current bandwidth of 9.6kbps for wireless networks to 11 mbps. Once this technology is implemented all internet ready devices will work on a cellular network or a wireless LAN. This includes Bluetooth and 802.11b. Anyone knows further about this?

I have not heard of this but i reckon this is possible. But according to my knowledge with the mobile network, it will cost the operators heaps to setup and they have huge difficulties to bill the customer. Even till now, 3G operators still face certain issues in billing their customers. |
