the way i see it, the only alternative to keypads are voice recognition sytems.
but at the current state of development of voice recognition, it still has some way to go until keypads are replaced.
(and after voice recognition, maybe we could have phones that can "read" our minds) this ain't to farfetched i guess  |

thats what i was getting at can touch screens be used for keypads bu using you hand? or do you need a stylus to use the screen? |

superluminova, touchscreens used for small devices require a stylus since there is a very small screen area. Styli are designed so that it wont scratch the surface of the touchscreen. Unlike a touchscreen monitor which uses a diff technology. |

Touch screen on the p800 for example is same technoligy as compaq ipaq, ater a while i began using my finger/nail to no ill efect BUT allthough the VIRTUAL keypad on that phone is just large enough to use your finger (this is the view of an owner,NOT me)however when in web surfing or similar mode it thas a tiny qwerty keyboard as in most PDA`s which is far to small to use your finger. ...the down side of touch screen keypads is you can`t feel them (like when you stupidly write a sms while driving ) which is why SE added the awfull looking ad on physical keypad,i think. |
