I'm trying to dial in over Bluetooth, the blue led starts blinking fast, so there's a connection. However, the phone doesn't dial and I get the message "There is no answer at the number dialed". What's wrong?

Thanks Dave. The article was just what I needed. I don't know what I had done wrong but know it almost works i.e. I can connect with GPRS but I still cannot get the web page loaded, but I thinkit's just a minor fix. With GSM it works just fine.

What a great combination! The 3870 and T68 I mean. I've noticed that although I keep the Bluetooth connected on both devices all the time, it doesn't affect the battery life to a large extent. It is great when you can keep the T68 in your pocket and just grab the iPaq and surf the net or check your e-mails without any cables.

This is one problem I haven't had. One thing that was missing from the PPC Writer guide was the DNS and Alt. DNS settings, alhtough I'm not sure if these settings are necessary. In any case they are operator specific.

All in all the GPRS settings are trickier than I imagined. I still havent figured out how to get a web page downloaded, I keep getting the message that the page I'm trying to download is unavailable although I'm connected via GPRS.

I've recently converted from Palm, and with Palm the GPRS settings were no problem at all.

I think I may have found the problem, although I haven't had a chance to test it yet: I called Compaq, and apparently there is a bug in the PPC2002 OS which causes the DNS addresses to change. And thus you cannot connect via GPRS. The fix should be available at: http://www.compaq.com/support/files/handlhelds/us/download/13464.html

Compaq sent me two dll files that need to be put into the windows directory and then the connection should work.

WRINKLE : I would very much like these files too, as I'm getting the 3870 within the next two weeks.

Could you please send them to me too

EMAIL : jh67@email.dk

Do you use the Activesync program in the compaq, to put them into the pocket pc 2002 system ?
It might be a stupid question, but I havent worked with pocket pc before

Thanks for that wrinkle

Strange thing is that I can connect into Orange Internet using gprs and bluetooth, just not their wap site?????

I'll give the softpaq a try and see what that does.

Well guys for its worth got the wap working now as well BUT not through the pocket i.e. I downloaded and installed the rom upgrade as mentioned by wrinkle but still no joy. Then decided to use a 3rd party wap browser and connected in first time using the basic settings, i.e. *9***1# (my apn no. is 1) for the number, and nothing else....and it is very fast

Problem seems to be that pocket i.e. will only recognise wap if your isp uses a proxy server, which Orange uk don't.

If anybody is interested have a look at the wap browser, unfortunatley it's $23...but hey it works. (you can download an evaluation version)

http://www.apachesoftware.com/products.html

In the web browser you need to select connection type as Wap Gateway and enter the ip address of 192.168.71.35 and port 9201
NOTE THESE ARE ONLY FOR ORANGE UK, and yes 'e' mail does work.

Regards

Dave
