i've noticed this too; i'm not sure why it does it. if they were just random characters I'd say that it's probably the info getting scrambled on the way there, but i don't know why it changes to just random phrases. if you find out, let us know!

What part of google are you using? the mobile section or the entire web search? [addsig]

i think the problem is the fact that the mobile web is quite limited so when you search for something like mophundemo there wouldnt be any proper results. however if you were to search for something much simpler such as mophun i am sure it would give better results [addsig]

If I were you I'd put in two keywords mophun and demo as these are two distinctive existing words (well, one is technically a name) in the english language, whereas mophundemo as one word does not exist in the english language and might generate results with words with somewhat similar spelling but on relation at all to what you are looking for. 'combined' words in the english language never become one word.

It seems to me that all this talk of keywords and stuff is a little beside the point. What happens is that you get a message to the effect of 'no results were found containing X', where X is something completely not what you entered in the field provided. I.e. You enter '50 cent tones' and you get a message saying 'no results were found containing sexy wap hotties' or something completely unrelated.

hey me too!

I searched for "counting crows" and then it gave me something like "sexy wap pics" ?!?!

Wap porn! woo hoo!

Seriously though, is it possible that the site's been hijacked or something? [addsig]

Just a thought here - however now I don't know exactly how IP adresses are distributed to cell phones with WAP... And bear with me should I seem incoherent - been up 39 hrs and counting...

Could it all be a case of the middleman getting the wrong message? Say you send a search to google ("mophun games") but a millisecond later some other dude/dudette submits some other query. The WAP gateway, a bit delirious, gives you the same IP for the session (or whatever however) as that other user. Thus (Alas?) the search results have a great chance of being mixed up (50/50?) and you get "No results found containing 'Hot Ch1x'" (which was what the other person searched for).

Just a thought. Please correct where wrong. And yes, I'm going to read up on the technical specs for GSM, WAP etc. But not now, I'm going to bed.

PS: what the original post describes has never happened to me, google returns all my searches just fine. It's not been hijacked either

@Kurisuteru

The faulty google results also applies to web browsers and computers with static IP. Try yourself with Opera which handles WAP and web pages.

thing is, its consistently the wrong thing im searching for!

So say i search "dashboard confessional midi" and it says "No results were found for 'hot wap girls' "

If I change it to say, "Dashboard Confessional midi" (note the change in capitalization), then it works! However, if I keep it as "dashboard confessional midi" it keeps turning up "hot wap girls" !

And i mean like a day or a week later it gives the same search results!

Google was hit by the Mydoom worm sometime over the past day or two, perhaps this is related. [addsig]

@laffen:

the IP for the DSL connection I'm on right now is static (well, DHCP really but lease is long - 6 months on same address now), no problems with Google. Haven't tried with Opera though, I'm too happy with Firefox to install that ad-ridden (although very fine) browser.

This sure is a weird problem, and consistent one at that. tried asking google themselves about this?
