Possibly. Depends on whether the IMEI block is in effect in more than the country the phone was bought / used in.

Usually though, they work fine, but its better to buy a new phone than run the risk..

maybe, maybe not.. depends on if the providers are using the global EIR database on Ireland for checking blocked IMEI numbers... if they do that, the phone can't be used on any provider which uses this database.

just remember... they are blocked for a reason... why support people who really don't care about from where they got the phone, as long as they can sell it and get money for it?

The chap who is selling the phone has given me proof from a Police Auction he bought a Job lot from, so yes I agree that if it was from someone who stole the phone is not right, but to buy from a buyer direct from a Police Aution is not the same, I have a Spanish Sim, seen as I live here, it is a chance to buy a cheap phone.

Thanks for all the replies

Can't the police unlock it as they legally sell it on? That would seem the logical thing to do
