Ok, wouldn't it be cool to have your PC send you a BT message everytime you got an IM via AIM, etc?!
Well I have a few ideas that we could make it happen!
First off, a program called Trillian supports plugins, you can track AIM net status, and you can add aim mods....well, three ways it can be done, anyone want to help me out?
We just need to get the progs to use a BT connection to send out a message everytime you get an IM on ur pc!

To receive the msg via BT your phone would have to be close to your PC. Why not check on your PC?

yeah, but I was thinking, my PCX is upstairs and I'm in my basement...what If I got an IM?
Well, it also depends on how far ur PC BT can broadcast!
The PC will be sending out the signal!

note that you'll also need to build a program for on your phone. best is to start with a symbian phone cause they've got more capabilities.
i wish i could help you guys out, but i'm not a programer. but i do support this thing, cause bluetooth needs to be pushed big time!

Not true. It needs a handshake with the phone. So even if the pc could broadcast 30miles the range would still only be 10m's as this is all that the phone is capable of, and the phone needs to send a message to the pc to say that it is ok to be sent the message.
Also this range would be a lot less than 10metres, if the signal is going through 1 floor + the base of the house into the basement.

motorola makes a wireless aim device that lasts up to, i believe 25 feet. If this is something you need now. but i do support the idea of this. sounds like a long and frustrateing project.

Yeah, but it's about $200, and If it's the same one I heard of, the ratings for it weren't very good at all!
Well, you don't need to program the phone, cuz phones can already recieve BT messages!

Do any phones that are available now have longer range BT? I once read here before the Z1010 was released that, that had or was going to have a 100 meter range?

That motorola thing you are all talking about is called the Motorola IMfree, and it uses a 900mhz frequency to run. I was thinking about buying one, and you can pick them up on ebay for as little as $30. IT can support up to 6 messages at once, and has a full qwerty keyboard. I think i heard it weighs somewhere around 9 ounces.
