I have an HCB-30 BT car handsfree installed and am having lots of problems with the SE Z600. I also have the gooseneck mic installed and the mute cable installed. When I make/receive calls I hear the other party just fine but often they can't hear me. Not to say that they poorly hear me but that they completely can't hear anything from my end. At times the system works just fine. The cables have been checked and rechecked and all are fine.

When making/receiving a call the system may or may not work. Sometimes if the system doesn't work on a call back it will work fine. Other times even after a dozen attempts it will not work. The problem is quite frustrating and has led to avoiding the car kit completely.

I have not yet noticed a pattern to when the system will work or not work.

Any ideas or suggestions on what the problem may be? Is it possible that a firmware upgrade on the Z600 would help the problem?

The phone has firmware version R5C001 (EU6) Vodafone version.

Thank you for any help you can provide,
Jason

There is a known problem with the T610/Z600 and the HCB-30 with some firmware versions with effects similar to the problems you describe. I don't know off-hand whether or not yours is the latest Voda FW version but upgrading the phone firmware, if possible, may be the answer, and is at least worth a try.

If not, it is not unheard of to have a faulty carkit - and you shouldn't need a mute cable with the HCB-30, as it has built-in radio mute (I think), unless you are wiring it through your car speakers.

Dave:

Thank you. I will give it a go and see if a firmware upgrade makes a difference. I will post results for others in the future who may have similar problems.

The mute cable was needed to properly mute the Toyota system in my car. Toyota has no mute connection on the stereo so it was the only option.

Thanks,
Jason
