I bought a used laptop.... it came withsome stuff on it from the previous laptop, so I used the system restore on it. It work, but didnt get rid of the two partitions that it came with. I removed everything visible... ie. pictures and songs, but there are hidden files that are taken up LOADS of space... these are them:

Can I delete them, or should i contact the makers and sort it out?!?

Why not making a format as you obviously want a clean hard drive.

Boot up from the Windows XP CD and delete any partitions and make one or more back, format it and install XP

Not sure, saw some programs that are able to make more partitions but not the contrary. You may have more chances of replys on computers/windows sites like iexbeta.com or neowin.net
