If C. Rice - the current National Security Advisor under G.W. Bush - was caught doing this ... I can hardly imagine. I wonder what documents were "inadvertantly" taken and "mistakenly" destroyed. I'm beginning to think that most US citizens are complete and total morons. Well ... at least those who think this is only an issue because the public was made aware of it with "suspicious timing". Amazing. Simply Amazing. Someone please HELP us!

Actually it's how I end every post; been doing it for 6 years. The sarcasm in the post was implied.

My source? I'm not the one posting information, I'm just questioning the source. If you're going to listen to Fox News, you might as well listen to Michael Moore. You'll get information at the same level of unbiased from both.

Well ... one of the most anit-Bush people on this thread is of the opinion that Fox News is a credible source.
See Post from Axxxr where he says “that CNN,FOX NEWS and other respectable news channels”.

And to compare even a conservative leaning news organization to a propagandist like Michael More? Again... I laugh

But since you need more:

Berger drops out as Kerry foreign-policy adviser

By Jill Lawrence and Mimi Hall, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — Former national security adviser Samuel Berger stepped aside from his work as a foreign-policy adviser to Democrat John Kerry's presidential campaign Tuesday, after Berger acknowledged that he had mishandled classified documents that were under review by the independent commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks.

Berger, who had been considered a leading candidate for secretary of State in a Kerry administration, has been under investigation by the Justice Department since October for removing classified documents from a secure reading room at the National Archives.

Berger told reporters Tuesday the incident was "an honest mistake" and that he was not guilty of criminal wrongdoing.

"Last year, when I was in the Archives reviewing documents, I made an honest mistake. It's one that I deeply regret," Berger said. "I dealt with this issue in October 2003 fully and completely. Everything that I have done all along in this process has been for the purpose of aiding and supporting the work of the 9/11 commission, and any suggestion to the contrary is simply, absolutely wrong."

Berger has said the papers were different versions of a memo that critiqued the government's intelligence and security efforts in the period just before millennium celebrations in late December 1999. He also has acknowledged removing his own handwritten notes about classified documents, in apparent violation of National Archives rules.

There is no indication that Berger's action affected the 9/11 commission's work; a spokesman for the panel said Tuesday that the classified papers — some of which are still missing — were copies of original documents.

The investigation, which included a search of Berger's home by FBI agents in the spring, had proceeded quietly for months until Monday, when reports about it began circulating here. For Republicans wary about how the Bush administration's anti-terrorism efforts will be portrayed in the 9/11 panel's report, which is due Thursday, it was a chance to take aim at the Clinton administration — and raise questions about Berger's work for Kerry just days before the Democratic National Convention.

By late Tuesday, Berger had separated himself from the Kerry campaign.

Kerry said in a statement that "Sandy Berger is my friend, and he has tirelessly served this nation with honor and distinction. I respect his decision to step aside as an adviser to the campaign until this matter is resolved objectively and fairly."

The move capped a day of heated political rhetoric in which some Republicans called Berger's actions a national security crisis, and Democrats cast the news of the Berger probe as a GOP-orchestrated leak aimed at deflecting attention from the 9/11 panel's report.

"Mr. Berger has a lot of explaining to do," House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said. He said Berger had "pilfered documents."

"He was given access to these documents to assist the 9/11 commission, not hide information from them," he said.

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, called Berger's actions a "third-rate burglary" that endangered national security. "I think it is gravely, gravely serious what he did, if he did it," DeLay said.

Democrats, meanwhile, said the timing of reports about the Berger probe was a bit too convenient for the GOP. Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., called the timing "curious" and said the government leak that revealed the probe was "obviously an attempt to do damage" to the Clinton administration's credibility on terrorism.

"The timing speaks for itself," said Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y.

As Bill Clinton's national security adviser, Berger was familiar with the contents of the documents that were taken from the Archives. Berger reviewed thousands of documents at the Archives after he was designated by the former administration to identify relevant Clinton-era information that the 9/11 commission should examine.

Through his attorney, Lanny Breuer, Berger called his mishandling of documents "sloppy." He said that after reviewing stacks of papers, he had mistakenly placed them in his briefcase.

It is illegal to remove classified documents from the Archives.

Three government officials who have been briefed on the investigation said Berger was seen placing some of the material in his clothing. The officials declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the investigation.

After one of his visits to the Archives last fall, one of the government officials said, Berger was alerted to the missing documents and later returned some of the materials. On subsequent visits by Berger, Archives staffers specially marked documents he reviewed to try to ensure their return. But the government official said some of those materials also went missing, prompting Archives staffers to alert federal authorities.

Berger said that after he was alerted about missing documents last fall, he returned those he could find. FBI agents later searched his home and office; it's unclear whether they found anything. A few documents are still missing, authorities said.

"When I was informed by the Archives that there were documents missing, I immediately returned everything I had except for a few documents that I apparently discarded," Berger said in a written statement.

Al Felzenberg, spokesman for the 9/11 commission, said the panel has "copies of everything (Berger) saw. We have access to every one of these documents that we have been reading about that have been allegedly taken. We have had access to everything. In no way was our report compromised."

Berger was an informal adviser to Kerry and was not on the campaign's payroll. But he was a prominent member of Kerry's foreign-policy team, along with former United Nations ambassador Richard Holbrooke and Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del. Berger helped to plan and publicize Kerry's 11-day national security tour in May and made TV appearances on his behalf.

Some Republicans, including White House spokesman Scott McClellan and Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz. and Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., were more restrained than their party colleagues. McCain called Berger "a fine and honorable man who we should presume innocent until proven guilty."

Patrick just because Fox news from time to time might give some credible reports does'nt exactly mean that it does'nt also cover up the truth and kisses the bush administrations backside.

Quote:
"The producer/director Robert Greenwald asserts that the FOX News Channel, America's top-rated 24-hour cable news network, is biased and does little more than parrot the words and opinions of the Bush Administration and the Republican National Committee."

When i said that fox news is a credible news channel what i meant to say is that it is a major u.s news channel watched by millions of republicans such as yourself patrick. And you are supposed to believe news from them.It being the republicans major news source..and "Other respectable news channels"not implying that fox is repectable in any way just that there are many"respectable"news channels. Just because CNN and others may lean to left opinions doesn't mean the content is not limited. I feel all media is not showing the whole picture, FOX is just by far the worst.
