K700i infra red problem |

Getting used to the new K700i, and have come across a problem with it. I use an Ericsson MC218 (Psion 5mx) to write SMS in the Email application and send via mobile phone connected through the infra red port.
This has worked without any problems with all my previous SE phones: T68i, T610, T630.
However, it won't work at all with the K700. The MC218 complains that it cannot connect to the phone. Since it cannot connect, it cannot pick up the service centre phone number.
Is this a bug? What has changed in the K700, and is there anything I can do about it? |

I can confirm this problem on a Psion 5mx. SMS in Email application cannot connect to the phone.
IR works, because I can issue AT commands to the phone in the Terminal.

Thanks for that. It's good to hear that it's not just me.
I took tried the Comm app and that worked. On my MC218 there is also a My Phone app (for setting settings and managing the phone book). This was unreliable but I did manage to get it to read the phone book, and it is also able to dial numbers on the phone.
One other thing I tried was sending an email via the Message app. This too (like SMS) didn't work and gave up with a No reponse from modem error.
I am guessing this is a bug in the phone and that future firmware upgrades may resolve it. |

One observation that I find interesting:
The first AT after you open Comms, is not recognized by the phone. The second gives OK.
The same applies to the first AT after a disconnect.
