T68m Firmware Upgrade Frustration |

Hey guys,
Just had to relay my experience this afternoon trying to get my T68m firmware upgraded. I travel a lot with work and in January this year I was in New Zealand for one week when my Nokia died. I liked the look of the Ericsson T68 which was just released there so I purchased it. I normally live in Australia but I work all through SE Asia. Today I went to the Sony Ericsson Service centre to get my T68m upgraded. I phoned first and they said they could do it.
When I arrived they said they could do the upgrade but they did not have the CD or booklet to give me. They asked where I purchased the phone and I told them New Zealand. They then said it would cost me S$103 (About US$50) for the upgrade !!!! I was amazed. I told them that I do not visit New Zealand very often and that paying $103 for the upgrade was WAY TOO MUCH. They didn't want to hear anything I had to say unless I paid them S$103. I told them that they had upgraded the phone to R2B only three months ago and they didn't have a problem then but now they are just interested in the money. I purchased a T39 for my girlfriend while I was in Singapore and now I am concerned that I cannot get either of my Ericsson's upgraded in the future without paying lots of money.
This is a warning for anyone who travels and is thinking about buying an Ericsson overseas.. DO NOT DO IT!
Sorry to complain - but needed to get this off my chest. Needless to say, I left WITHOUT paying the money and without the upgrade

Have a bit of a look around, I remember someone else saying they were going to be charged for the upgrade until they called they called the service point and told them that they're not supposed to be charging for it, can't remember where it was (which forum) but it was within the last couple of weeks. I think it was ejasim |
