Just wondered if anyone can tell me roughly how many minutes of music you can store on the T68 MP 3 Player.

I hope that u are familiar with computer language. However i will give u a short list of definitions.
Bit, The smallest representation available for computerized data. one bit is either a one(1) or a zero(0)
Byte, 8 bits
Kilobyte (KB), 1024 Bytes
Kilobit (Kb), 128 Bytes
Megabyte (MB) 1024 Kilobytes
Bitrate usually in Kbit/s a way to express how much bandwidth something takes.
U can find an MP3īs bitrate in winamp when u play the song or by pressing the small "i" sign to the left.
Now here comes the funny part in an MP3 player u have somewhere between 32Megabyte(MB) and 96 Megabyte.
In an Ericsson MP3 player however u do only have 32 to start with. ( U can easily upgrade this by buying a new MMC card, they can be as large as 64MB )
32 Megabytes is not a good way to express how much music you can store in the player.
First u have to know in wich quality u desire to have.
An MP3 song usually has a bitrate of 128Kbit ( That is 128Kbit used per second of the song ) to 192Kbit. The higher the
That is what most people would think is a decent quality mode, so... how many minutes can u store in a Ericsson MP3 player in this mode ?
That is easy u just have to take the size of the memory and divide it by the bitrate, and u will have the time in seconds.
First take 32MB * 1024 = 32768KB
Then we would like to know how much is 128Kbit in Kilobytes ?
It is 128 / 8 = 16KB/s ( This is never actually used )
now we divide the space 32768, by 16 in order to get the space in seconds.
32768 / 16 = 2048
Now... how many minutes is 2048 seconds ?
it is 2048 / 60 = 34 minutes.
An easy formula to achieve the time is
(Size in Memory * 1024 ) / ( MP3 Kilobitrate / 8 ) = The answer in seconds.

or you could say that you can have as many minutes of music as you have Mb in the player. So for the ericsson MP3 player it has a 32Mb card when delivered. Thats 32 minutes of music sort of. And if you can afford it you can buy extra cards to carry more music with you and swap cards to change songs. The biggest card you can buy right now is 64Mb. |

Yup that is almost true =)
64 Megabytes gives u 68 minutes
that is 4 more minutes minutes.. or one more tune.
this is in 128Kbit
In 160Kbit per second you have = about 54 Minutes.
In 192Kbit per second you have = about 45 Minutes.
Divide this by 2 and u have the time in a 32MB memory.

When I go to the E drive (my MMC card) and click the right mouse button to look at Properties, it says:
File system: FAT
Used space: 31,950,848 bytes 30.4 MB
Free: 0 bytes 0 MB
Capacity: 31,950,848 bytes 30.4 MB
So I can only use 30.4MB, why is that? Is it normal? And what does 'expand' mean????

Can anyone who actually has the mp3 player tell something about it? Is it worth the money? What is the sound quality? battery consumption, how easy it is to control it, etc?
I just recently bought the little snap-on radio unit, it is very cheap, but it is also very simple, although the sound quality is good. However, I had expected a little more, like, for example the phone's display showing the frequency, or maybe even RDS capabilities, but the only interaction with the phone is when there is an incoming call, and the extras menu lets you show the product number and the revision of the radio.
What about the mp3 player? |

Mp3 is DEFINATELY worth the money! You snap it on and you can see the song, play, ffward, rwnd, pause, stop... all handsfree functions, battery goes for about two-three days if used frequently (about 60 minutes a day), it looks a bit weird when on the phone, but the quality of music if very good! Stereo and all that! I'm satified and so are many others!!!

The reason for the slightly lower amount of memory is nothing to worry about. The MMC card needs to be formatted so that it can actually work. This slightly lowers the total amount of memory that the card can store. Its like 2MB floppy disks that actually can only hold 1.44MB when they've been formatted.
