T68, Orange and SMS confirmations |

Has anyone else managed to get SMS confirmations to work with a T68 on Orange, here in the UK? I can send and receive SMS messages, but when I send messages I do not get confirmation as I did on my old phone. Indeed, I tried sending a few test SMS messages between my old phone and my new T68 - but although the old phone displayed a confirmation message when the message arrived on my T68, the T68 was silent when messages arrived on my old phone.
I did go into the Messages -> SMS -> Options -> Status Request menu, and selected ON. But it didn't make any difference to messages sent afterward. When I looked at messages in my SMS sent items, they were not marked - and when I pressed the Options key on a message, I found that the View Status option was ghosted out. When I tried to select it, I got an error message saying "Currently unavailable".
Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a universally recognised issue with Orange? Or is my handset up to maggots? I have the latest software upgrade (R2B025), although I noticed this problem before the software was upgraded (generic "out of the box" Orange T68). I find it very hard to believe that such a feature-rich phone as the T68 would be missing such a simple feature. Having confirmation of SMS messages is quite important to me, and I'd appreciate any information on this subject. |

Think there was a post about this ages and ages ago, I think that it is a general problem with Orange SIM cards on the T68 but i think you can get message delivery reports if you write RCT? I'm sorry I dont use it myself so not sure if that is right but its something to do with writing RCT but not sure at what point during SMS. hope this helps. Benny

This is an issue with Orange PCS SMS Centres. They are all Nokia powered. Hence they do not support 'Status' as used on non-nokia brand phones. They online support the nokia 'delivery report' system. This is my understanding of the situation anyway. On my phone the status menu's have been removed

Thats right...not supported by orange due to the sms centre...wont work full stop!

I am on orange and I get delivery reports ok on my R520......
Maybe its a T68 thing.... |
