HELP - need firmware expert for question - K700i |

So I want to have my firmware changed to a Euro or US version of the new release, R2E011. Global Mobility in California has this firmware and can do the upgrade.
http://www.globalmob.com/cart/customer/home.php
Here's the thing - in emailing with them about what version firmware to install (I need French/English language T9 and have an Asian phone with English only) I got the following response from them that I haven't heard anything about before:
QUOTE:
Your phone must be region unlocked by SE to freely install any language
pack. If your phone was originally an Asian phone with Asian languages, it
will most likely be locked to that region, and not accept any other
firmwares. It has been my experience that European phones will accept all
languages EXCEPT Asian.
END QUOTE.
Anyone know about this???
Thanks!

All I can say is that a friend of mine who works at Ericsson in Lund Sweden told me that every FW version ie. Vodafone Live, Telia Go, Orange etc. has their own checksum which makes it impossible to flash the phone with "wrong" FW-version. I would guess that a certified SE service centre could bypass that in some way, or rather: I KNOW they can, my friend told me that he could easily un-brand my P900, but he wouldn´t risk his job in doing so.

This blows... here is my second response from the service guys:
------------
You have ASIAN_LATIN firmware, and you will only be able to install ASIAN_LATIN languages for future revisions, unless SE changes territory restrictions--they did this in the past with their T68, but only after the product was discontinued.
------------
So, I'll check out AsianLatin1, AsianLatin2, AsianLatin3, and AsianLatin4 - but my guess is that they aren't going to make me thrilled with the language choices!
grrrrrr

This is probably my paranoid personality but that statement from teh service guy seems a bit racist. LOL i know i know it's most likely 99% not but lol to me it is. sorry.
I was born with three legs. In the middle of my third leg, there's a dial pad, 65k color screen, , and on the tip there's a icon. |

This isn't true, as I had my T68 changed from asian to euro language, and it wasn't discontinued at the time! | |
