Ok so i have a SE T630, all i have is the cellphone, it doesnt have any internet service enabled so i just use it to make calls, i have all the software installed that came with it (Dialup Networking Wizard, MMS, and SE Image Editor) on my labtop. Now is it possible to get online using the phone as a modem if i dont have a WAP or GPRS service? I have DSL and Dialup with earthlink and SBC Global, is it possible to dial up to them? I just want to get online using my cellphone because i travel alot and i dont always have access to the net, i have a INFA RED USB Dongle and it works because i am able to transfer files and such.

So i went to the Dialup Networking Wizard and tried to see if i could get online, i made a connection using GPRS (i have no idea if that would be the correct setting for me) i went threw the wizard and used the Infa red modem on com-port 1 and its ENABLED i checked the in control panel phone monitor options. It made a connection with nothing but this *99***1# now i tried entering my actual cellphone number and leaving everything else blank so it looked like

Username:
Password:

Dial: *99***1#000-000-0000 (my number were the 0`s are)

I get this error
Opening Port...
Error 692: Their was a hardware failure in the modem (or other connecting device).

So i figure im doing something wrong so i then got a dialup number from my service provider and tried that along with my username and password.

Username:earthlink username
Password:earthlink password

Dial: *99***1#000-000-0000 (earthlink dialup number)

Same Error-
Opening Port...
Error 692: Their was a hardware failure in the modem (or other connecting device).

Now maybe im entering the number wrong? Should it have no -`s and look like this..
Dial: *99***1#0000000000

Now what i need to know is:
1. Is it possible to get online using your cellphone with infa red IF you dont have a WAP or GPRS service??

2. Is it possible for me to dialup to my ISP using my cellphone JUST as a modem??

3. Am i doing something wrong here?? Please help me step by step if possible.. please

4. Lets say i get online using a My highspeed while im at home, while im online can i somehow use my DSL connection to get online with my cell phone??
(E.g) using my dsl connection on my labtop and somehow share it with my cellphone using infa red.

5. If i use my phone as a MODEM does this use the EDGE capability?? Because i know my phone has it and it would be extremely nice to have a fast connection.

6. Is it possible to get a WAP/GPRS service for my cellphone that IS NOT with my phone service? (cingular) like a 3rd party WAP service?? If so what are some good ones (im located in the US)

My main concern tho is using my cellphone to get online and knowing what i need, do i have to do something in the cellphone settings? i have infa red turned on, i dont have my WAP or gprs configured for the cellphone tho because i have no internet service, do i need to set this up a certain way eventho i have no cellphone internet service?? Do i do something in the cellphone that i dont know about?? Let me know exzactly what to do please. I have a SE T630 (FYI)

Can someone please help me with this, ive used search and found no solution to my problem, pleassssse..
Sorry if i seem newbish but i am, i really need to figure this stuff out so if you can help me Step by Step or give me some good/true info would be extremely nice.
Sorry my post is so long, but its the only way i knew to explain it, please help if you can.

Thanks In advance,
Mark (eyz)

*99***1# is for using GPRS *only*.

To dial up your earthlink or whatever ISP with a regular phone number, you just enter the phone number in the dialup networking thing on your PC.

However, your mobile provider must support CSD(circuit switched data) for you to be able to connect that way. Most North American GSM netoworks don't. Also note that even if it is possible, the speed in North America is only 9.6k

Since you have a T630, you can also use your PC's DSL to get on the net (but obviously you have to be sitting close to your PC to do that), browsing on the T630 browser. Please search for detailed instructions for the T610 here. I don't have any of these phones so I don't remember the exact details.

You can use IR, Bluetooth or Cable to connect between PC and phone, although cable is very slow.

T630 does not support EDGE which is faster than GPRS.
