PLEASE COULD YOU LET ME KNOW THE PROBLEM FOR THE
FOLLOWING:
I have a Nokia 6230 which i bought a few days ago. The
problem i am facing is that when i go to the caller
groups and try to set a mp3 ringtone from the memory
card it won't let me. The message will come up on the
screen to say " the files requested can't not be
found". Yet the memory card shows that i have files.
when i go to the gallery it will let me access these
files on the memory card. its on the caller groups
that i can't. My friend has this phone and he hasn't
had this problem. the files all appear when he goes to
the caller groups.
I await your kind reply as soon as possible.

It's the problem of all 6230, u must restore (reset) factory settings, and then try what you want. Btw Welcome to Esato

As far as i know you can't use files from your mmc card in your phonebook, ringtones, pictures etc. You have to store them in your phones memory to be abel to use them in your phonebook, i could be wrong but i am almost certain.

thanks, i have reset the phone twice and nothing happens.
also it does work from the memory card as my mates phone has no problems with it. maybe its a factory fault.........i don't know!! |

Ok, do you have the same firmware maybe your friend has a later one and this issue has ben taken care of in the later firmware uppgrade?

the phones are the same with the same firmware. maybe its a factory fault or maybe need to contact nokia service centre.

I found this site cuase I had the same problem. I took my phone to the service centre and when I got home I still had the same problem.
After playing around with the phone for a bit I found that whenever I received a file I renamed it to whatever suited me and never kept the file extension, it seems that this was the cause of the error. I then downloaded a few more files and did not rename them and viola the error was gone.
So to cut a long story....all you have to do is keep the file extension so the phone will recognise the file type. |

Try simply "re-formatting" the MMC card, add the mp3 files and try again. That might do the trick.
