Have you used ip addresses or network names for the server addresses? If you've used name, (ie smtp.orange.net) try getting the IPs for the servers using DNS lookup at http://www.freeality.com/findet.htm . I found that my phone could only see IPs, not names. |

I have the same problem, you CANNOT collect orange email via WAP you have to make a new connection and log onto the 0845 no. and use the dialup account details as if you were using a pc !
Shame that |

Are you trying to access email via normal GSM or GPRS?
1) If via GPRS, you'll need a need a new data account (aid= orangeinternet) setting in the T68 specifically for email...+ set your T68 email prefs to your normal ISP e.g pop.freeserve.net etc
2) If via GSM,same thing but only slower
3) Going through 'Mail' on the Orange Wap portal is actually via WAP
...p.s. we're talking about Orange in the UK right? |

I have had a nightmare with my phone over this, i tried adding the IP addresses instead of smtp/pop addresses, but with no joy. Im using GSM.
I spoke to a tech guy at Orange and they didnt even have a T68 there to test my problem! He then went on to explain that they wernt even sure if it was possible to download email into your inbox as they were testing to see if their mail servers were compatible with the phone!!! Until then he told me i can only check my mail via their WAP site until they resolve their tests.
If anyone has got their mail working with Orange (UK) can you PLEASE give me (and a lot of other people judging by some of the posts ive seen) a laymans guide to what you did to solve this, ie: settings etc? I would be truly grateful to you if you know a way.
On another level though why is it that my girlfreind has had no trouble sorting her mail on One2One and yet Orange, who are always telling us how advanced they are in this area, cannot seem to sort this?

Can you elaborate on the "setting up separate data account" ?
Is this something specific for Orange ?
I have a T39 and trying to use the E-mail.
I have tried both the name of the mail server I'm using and the IP address.
Are you setting up the data account using the mail servers address or simply copying the information from the "main" data account ?

1) I'm using Orange GPRS at the moment, (£4/month -> 0.5MB download inclusive) so I can only advise about GPRS settings
**T68**
Go to Connect->\Data comm.->Data accounts->Add account->GPRS data->Name: *give your account a name* ->APN: orangeinternet, leave User id & Password blank->Save
Now make sure that your preferred serve is 'GPRS and GSM' and not 'GSM only'
I use this to connect successfully to my normal Freeserve email account with no problems. It is imperative to use the 'orangeinternet'APN as this setting is the one for emailsending & retrieval.
Hope you are dialling 156 when speaking to Orange re: T68. These guys should be aware of the settings required as Orange is planning on rolling out the T68 on their network this month.

of course, you'll have to set up the T68 email to connect using the recently created data account...
I have a funny feeling that the T39/68 email stuff has been optimised for GPRS and not GSM. I have only succeeded in using the T39 email via GSM/HSCSD once but downloading 1 email took up to 6 minutes! at 14.4Kbps |

I got it working by changing the GPRS settings for orange GPRS Change the APN to orangeinternet and make sure the DNS is 158.43.128.1 I found this on a post on another forum i think. |

excellent
I still have prolems seeing images (eg. T68logos on this site) via Orange wap...it seems that their wap gateway's not equipped to show images that are more than 1.5k...

I have downloaded some of my orange e-mails to my T68 but sometimes, when I clicked on the e-mail to read it, instead of seeing the mail, the T68 begins to dial again!
I am using the names of the servers for mail instead of the dns.
Does anyone think that using the dns will cure this?
I can, using wap, see my orange e-mail.
Thanks,
Ofiaich.

I got my T68 to pick up my Orange email over GSM, however I use Orange as my ISP so I'm using their dial-up number to access their pop & smtp servers.
The settings I use are as follows:
POP3 Server: pop.orange.net
POP3 Port: 110
Mailbox:
Password:
SMTP Server: smtp.orange.net
SMTP Port: 25
I connect via the following number +448450795001 using the same username & password as my PC. I think that you will have problems unless you use the Orange Internet dial-up number. You can register for this via the Orange UK website.
I have been trying to get my phone to pick-up mail from my Genie account without success. Do any of you guys know the settings? |

Thanks Mark,
I use those settings and the access number just as you wrote but still get some e-mails, that when I click to open, will cause the T68 to connect to Orange again!
Strange!
