The good things I like about the 6230:

The good things:

Mp3 player
Video Recorder
Image Capture, Night Mode and Portrait Mode
Sound Recorder
Radio
Media Player
Media Equilizer
The ability to view HTML pages as well as WAP/WML
Customizable (Sony Ericsson Mode/Nokia Mode (for menu))
All the usual phone features
Currently up to 1 Gigabyte of MMC support (YES 1 GB)
High-Res Images, good quality,
Speakerphone
Bluetooth/Infrared
New sim card holder, much more reliable and efficient
Good polyphonic support (although not the best, close to Sony Ericsson, but not really much notice of the difference)
Java Support, fast Java
Phone is generally faster than most Sony Ericsson colour phones

The bad things:

I wouldn't use it as a permanent every day mp3 player, the phone is A PHONE. Same with a Video player or recorder or digital photography.

I use the phone to take alot of pics, videos then usually transfer to my pc.

The features are there to capture important, special, happy moments.

i think extending the title of the thread with the phrase "and the ugly" would be appropriate for the N6230

All in all its a well rounded phone. the only things i got against it is the plastic cover over the lens...it really bugs me. and the fact that the names of mp3s get cut off the screen!!!
thats about it really.

All the features of the nokia 6230 are all +, the only setback (-) I guess will be it's 'small' screen size - NOTHING MORE !

The handset wasn't recalled as far as i know

also, SE chargers were recalled due to a defect, thats worse than a phone, which can cause a fire, too

Sony Ericsson have a higher fault rate before the phones even leave the factory

6230 has NEVER been recalled due to s/w bug's-straight from there UK Chief Technical Officer in God Manchester! Screen is a little small and doesn't like MP4 files either-thats the only down side. Never had a prob with my in 2 and a half months. Truely a great phone-but not the best! :-)

i must say i changed my nokia 6230 for a nokia 7610, n the one thing i really miss is the high qulity mp3 player that the 6230 has, generally a very good phone, few problems with it stalling when i had a 256mb card in it though

Are you kidding me or somting

The 6230 has no high quality mp3 player.

And the 7610 has no stereo MP3 that means that the 6230 way better in stereo and that's all.

The 6230 has normal average MP3 quality.
Even the K500i has better audio quality over the 6230.
