SE software upgrade\flashing ROM" in the US, where to go? |

one of the key reasons i'm holding off getting the K700 is the difficulty of finding someone RELIABLE to upgrade Sony Ericsson software, i'm in nyc, you'd think that it wouldn't be such a difficult ordeal. i've been told that i can send it to someone in Pittsburgh or something like that, once in a while, someone says that they found some guy within Sony Ericsson in Minnesota or Wisconsin that they found through some intense research who will do it LEGITIMATELY, rather than some individual who will do it but in case they fried your phone, they take no responsibility.
i'm ok with my T610 now, i waited about a month or 2 when it was introduced before getting it so i got the second or third or fourth software upgrade before buying it.
now i'm stuck with this decision again, when to get the K700.
would someone out here know who to go to, in the US, who is reliable, charges a reasonable fee, who will upgrade sony ericsson high end phones, especially the K700? if i had such a "resource" person to go to for flashing the ROM upgrades on a K700, i'd have no issues about buying one now.
by the way, is there another source to get a K700 that is reliable/reasonable return policy/decent price here in the US? i'm pretty much ready to get one except not knowing where i can to to upgrade my software. | |

mers, thanks for your reply.
i still don't know who to go to for software "flash" upgrades. it seems so common and easy to find in Europe but almost hazardous and remarkably difficult to find here in the US! it is almost always caveat emptor, and if they fried your phone, oh well, that's not their responsibility.
hard to believe that a big company like sony ericsson won't support simple things like software upgrades! it seems to me like this is a standard part of their business, almost like oil changes for cars!!
am i incorect? are there easy and reliable places to go to for software upgrades? guys online here talk about flashing their ROMs for software upgrades but i have not found any places to go to, and i'm in nyc!

You send it to SE and wait a few weeks... and only if you report a problem with your phone. That guy in Pittsburg has disappeared from the online forums. Maybe he got busted by his employer? Just kidding.
http://www.rs-electrics.co.uk is an official SE service point in UK and said they would do flashing by mail(registered mail), but I don't know if you want to send your phone that far.
There is another guy here who is an "official SE service point" in the U.S. but he never says he would do flashing for consumers. This service is not publicized by SE either so maybe it's supposed to be for dealers only.
Yet there is another guy with his own shop in Toronto where people claimed he has the official EMMA access to firmware. But one may wonder how that is possible.
