I cannot believe that there isn't a simple ring tone on the K700. The supplied ringtones are technically good but just too embarrasing. Does anyone know where I can download some normal ringing tones for free? I resent having to pay for a generic ring. Cheers

ps. Great phone otherwise. I have just charged it for 15 hours while switched off for the 4th time after being drained fully and the battery life is now fine. After a few days I was dreading recharging it all the time.

Yes I have "old phone" as well - I sent it to myself from my old T610 phone and it saved it in the K700 sounds.

Just search for .IMY ringtones, they will play in your 'K' and youŽll find everything from plain rings to Nokia mono ringtone-ripoffs and embarassing tunes

I've sampled my old T68 Mixed pitch ringtone and converted to WAV for use on my P800, and I've re-recorded it for use on my K700 as an mp3. I'd like to know, if people do try use it whether they have any problems on the K700 since it cuts out sometimes during a ring (talking about using the zMixed3-K700.mp3 from the zip file).

Firstly, yes, sony ericsson are by far the best phones around, and the k700i could quite possibly be the best phone out (with exception to smart/pda phones). But how long will it take for Sony to realise that THEIR CUSTOMERS WANT CUSTOMISABLE MESSAGE TONES. Ever since the t68i i've been craving for a customisable message tone and you'd think that while nearly every other manufacturer impliments this VERY simple feature, SE (in all their wisdom) for some reason decide not to. WHY? is it really that difficult? I'm sure all the other SE users out there think the same, SE's R&D department should seriously take a look at these forums if they dont have the common sense to realise that a customisable message tone is nearly as important as customisable ringtone, especially seeing as many people these days recieve more txt messages than calls (me included).

P.S- i have a k700i arriving in the post 2moro, anyone know a good insurance company who will insure a mobile phone not bought from them...at decent price with reliable service...maybe i'm asking alot lol.

True! Send me a pm with your e-mail address and I'll send you some ringtones that sounds as a phone should. I got them in standard format, plyphonic and mp3. I had the same problem last summer when I bought a T610 so my collection is rather large (and grew larger as the K700i arrived with mp3 capabilities). Just let me know and I'll mail them.

Would be great to know, who and why decided to prefer such melodies instead of the normal ones. They should pay more attention for such important things or less put the good old tones, alarms on the website and present us free to download. Many of us used /// in the past and miss those tones.

The K700i supports MP3's as ringtones, why do you want a monophonic ringtone?

If it bothers you that much either record an old phone playing a monophonic ringtone or just look for an MP3 file of an old phone ringtone.

I got your point, but se should support and present it by itself. Nordic theme, mix, low or high even in midi or poly format. Its not a big deal imho.

From all the tones provided by SE, I would *maybe* consider using one or two, the rest are just silly or cheesy IMO.
It was a bit of an oversight to not add more simple lowkey alerts. Was in a different office today for work and heard the most stupid sounding musical ringtones - WHY!!!!! I cant understand the joy people get from using the theme from the A-Team or the fitty-cent tune 'Its your birthday" for their ringtone.

CyberVisitor,

Thanks for the email, I've now got a normal ring tone back.

Cheers
