I'll keep it brief,

Got my 3g LG 8110 a few days ago, took it home to my parents house and set it up, worked fine. Went back to my house near Uni and tried to use it. Had four bars reception and it said 'calling'.

Next thing i know I hear 3 beeps and im cut off. So I try again. and again...... Frustrated I turn the phone off and on, same problem. I reselect the network and hey presto it works for 5 minutes with four or three bars reception. Then after this time the signal shows as 0 and the network logo dissapears. Only when I keep reselecting the network over and over in this area does it make and recieve calls. The network always disappears after 5 or so mins of being idle. It never cuts out if I use the phone, only when I leave it for a bit!

Three have assured me the coverage is strong in my postcode and should even work for video, I have replaced the handset, same issue.

What do I do? Its a bargain at £25 a month for 500 cross net mins.

The 3G networks and phones are really new in mobile market. So you have to deal with lot of problems. I suggest to use and love GSM

When there is no network what does it say???? on the screen? also how have you managed to switch between changing networks ie selecting the network again, as if I recall correctly 3 has BLOCKED that facility?

I had the same sort of problem with my z1010 but that was because I was using a 2g sim card and not 3g. After switiching to 3 I have not had one single problem, besides the dropping of calls. Anyway give us more info, and Il see how I can help.

I also had the same problem with my z1010 and I was also using a 2G sim card. I also changed and bought a 3G sim card and it works fine now! Dont worry, its not your phone, its the network, which can not support the change from a 2G band to a 3G band and vice versa. Just change the sim card to a one supporting 3G and you'll probably get rid of this problem.
I just want a simple phone... with 32bit color touch screen, video recording 640x480, 5 Megapixel camera, integrated TV/FM tuner, GPS system, and that shouldnt be heavier than 90g and should easily fit in my pocket...
