Multimedia viewer MMV-100 - released |
CyberVisitor Joined: Dec 21, 2001 Posts: > 500 PM |
Noticed that Sony Ericsson removed the "uppcomming" sign for their multimedia viewer (bluetooth) on their web site.
Anyone bought it? Impressions?
(Can't get hold of any myself yet.) |

I have liked this since it was announced and have one on preorder.
Unless the price reduces when it actually becomes available then it will probably be considered quite expensive but I suspect its price will reduce fairly quickly when people find out you cannot send video to it, only still images, MP3 and AMR. Also there are similar products also coming to market soon.
still, it will be nice to be able to do a slide show onto a TV or projector screen from the P800/P900 with software which will be released soon by , from the K700 (built in support) or from a PC

Cool! Are all new SE phones going to have this feature built in?

Are you sure about not being able to send video to the viewer? I read at USEP that it's possible (http://www.usep.be/).
Also, do you have any idea if the MMV-100 comes with a RCA cable for those without a scart? I have a LCD attached to the wall and therefore it's not possible to fit the viewer without drilling in the wall (RCA contacts will do fine though) The Sony Ericsson site says so, but it also said that the K700i would come with a USB cable, and it didn't (the later text is now removed from the site though).

well of course I don't have one yet so I based my statement on the specs and also if you look at the MMV-100 support page there is a faq there that says
Is it possible to send video clips?
No, the MMV-100 only supports still images.
but I will be happy if this is proved incorrect

Ok, I understand. I was thinking maybe you had seen it somewhere for real and tested it when being developed.
My local store will have it later today... so we'll soon get the answer. |

By the way, thanks for the link mate! All my questions were answered there. Also found out that the viewer needs a charger connected in order to work. That way I have no use of it. My LCD is attached to the wall with all cables hidden inside the wall straight out of the LCD. No way I'm going to have a cable hanging down from the LCD! Now I'm really dissapointed (but I should have thought of it myself that it needed power to work). |

I been wanting this gadget since they announced it, and I really can't forgive myself for being stupid enough never to think about the fact that it needs power supply.
Anyway, I got to have it! Guess I'll (just?) have to remove my LCD from the wall, drill another hole in the wall to hide the cables and buy some new paint. Guess my day is booked!
Get back as soon as I got it all working!

Had a go on one when a SE rep came to my place of work. You could even send mp3's stored on your phone to it by bt and play them through your telly-works with nokia handsets alre-VERY nice, VERY easy to use and VERY VERY small!

I paid £99 for it. Spent the friday night setting things up with my wall mounted tv (drilled the hole, repainted the wall etc) and the thing was broken when finally attached to my setup!
Couldn't have it replaced since all of them were sold out when going back on saturday. I got my money back though.
Now I'm waiting for a better price on Internet instead.
